Old axiom: "Believe half of what you read, and none of what you hear"
Carol Kino of the New York Times wrote a very cool article that actually does revive the fact that a artsy humor clad cable show, GalleryBeat Television, about art in the 90's into the 21st Century existed , turned itself into a documentary feature film called Guest Of Cindy Sherman by 2008, and by late 2009 reduced itself back into a media website covering the new Hindenberg disaster we like to refer to as the "Art World".
GalleryBeat always was a throwback, actually taking advantage that the NY art scene, newly melted down in 1992, was in fact barefoot and pregnant. When the going gets tough, you see who's left standing. Carol Kino is in fact, one of us, I knew her back in those early days when she wrote for The Nation and we used to trade gossip and backstories.
Ah, the cycle of life. In this case it's spin cycle. Old Beat was Walter and Cathy and Ron (concreteTV fame) and Spencer Tunick, with a ton of help by Kevin Frank (Conan O'Brien) and the great support of Betsy Baker, the Queen of Art in America - she let us monkeys loose in the house of Brandt.
The New GalleryBeat (one word!) is an all-volunteer team of equals. (okay I am the Equalizer Bunny) Anyone can take an idea and run with it, and that certainly includes Production Assts. (Aimee Graham, Peter Shellhorn, Megan Mooney) The site is in partnership with Commercial Pop and they made the site and designed it so we could load information quickly on a blog format. That inspiring concept was originally brainstormed by good friend Mark Gilleland of Mayaimage.com. My strong execs are Sam Schlaifer, Rus Yusupov, Ron Rocheleau, Lisa Levy, Amanda Miller, and Tamara Weg. My muse and the real point to the new GB is that we are expanding beyond visual art - and since I work in entertainment - we have included Suzie Cocktail.com, whose production company I work with and am proud to have the truly zany bodacious Suzie to completely baffle the people that log on to GB.
Last and most important is that my thing is writing and making movies. Tom Donahue and me made Guest of Cindy Sherman. Without Tom and everyone that contributed their expertise and work ethic, there would be no Guest of Cindy, or a new GalleryBeat. Anura Idupuganti, Chris Trela, Dane Lawing, Elissa Birke, Ben Neill, Leigh Roberts, Serena Merriman, Evan Raskob, Andrew Herwitz, Jonathon Gray, Hillary Stabb, The Sundance Channel, and at least a hundred other people. Most of all, bless her fashionable soul and true genius, is Cindy Sherman, whom I love even though she's being a total wacko to me, and about the film she's deeply involved in.
I cannot do better without help from friends. I can't do better than the NY Times, either. The Times has a code of ethics for it's journalists and it's something I look at as a standard. It's with that in mind that I have to stand with my friends and colleagues, and no one buys us. (make me an offer) So I have to do this to get the record as straight as can be done today. -P

Man, if I could just reverse my sexchange operation I would pay good money just to be a part of the GalleryBeat team. Genius. Looks. And then there’s those girls to women!
It’s my longtime prdiction that this site will do more to help the self-serving fun killers I usually act that I like. Thank God for Jerry Saltz too for saying all that nasty stuff about Cindy Sherman in the movie. GB should interview Jerry Saltz!

I warned you. Your boss said I should erase everything you say here so it’s a bit crackaddled of you to complain about your viral approach to honoring GB. So from now on, you are a little girl in a pink dress until you grow up to at least to a Judd Apatow character.

“thanks – now you’ve gone just so far afield, you have nothing to do with what we’re doing – I put in you in good stead on the Hopper show – and you just don’t add anything here. So from now on you’re passing through the editing pipe. At least pee is #1, but you’re #2.
