The City Council has officially approved the Museum of Modern Art's proposal to build an 82-story tower next door to its current space. MoMA plans to rent gallery space in what is set to be a veritable cocktail of hotel rooms and condos. The new building will rise 1025 feet, putting it in league with the Empire State and the Chrysler buildings. Happy coincidence that Bloomberg goes up for re-election in five days?
