This is the show that gave us our first real contact high. We had been working the Beat for about a year , the galleries were all in Soho, but we tripped out to Queens and Uptown also. Cathy has that hippy chick thing about her naturally so she just went for it when we hit Fred's show. I'd known Fred since LA 1988 at LACE. Fred had always been a good artist, but when started producing the pill and pot leaf paintings he'd made a quantum leap - and his career took off like a turbo-bong. Although Fred is very very successful, he never let's the fame go to his head at all. He doesn't even pay attention to it. Why? Because he worked because he had to work, and do it himself. Cam work by Mark Bardorf. Reporters -Walter Robinson, Cathy Lebowitz, and director Paul H-O, still shooter Dona Ann McAdams and music by London's Owada.
