Dear Dr. Lisa- A gallery I have shown with a few times (group shows - not solo) closed earlier this year, but they still owe me money for a painting they sold two months before they closed.  Short of a lawsuit, how can I get the money that's owed to me? Should I harass the dealer every time I see her in public and try to shame her into paying me?  I know the collector who bought the work, is it appropriate to ask him for some money? -Gimme the Cash Dear Gimme- I think you know the answer to this. Unless you hire a lawyer which is likely to cost more than the value of the painting, there’s not much you can do since the gallery went out of business and likely is in a lot more financial boiling water with their landlord, Con Ed and other more powerful forces than you. In other words, as far as getting your money back, get in line. Prescription: A session of aerobics, skeet shooting or go to a violent movie to exorcise your frustration as opposed to acting like an asshole in public and doing some real damage to your career. LOVE U!! - Dr. Lisa
